Is my car a total loss?

How on earth is someone supposed to make that determination based on the total lack of information provided?

If the insurance co. is having it repaired, it will be fixed correctly. They don't want the liability if the repair isn't right, or the repair fails, because you can hold THEM responsible since they opted to authorize the repairs at a shop of their choice. Simple enough.

Hi, I have to think that the insurance is going to total the car.. if both side doors are damaged I would think the uni-body may be bent and that would be beyond repair..

good luck

Ah, got it. Insurance companies have a percentage they look at, something like if it costs more than 70% of the car's residual value to repair it, they will total it. I was in the same position with my kid's car a few months back. He was also t-boned. It didn't look THAT bad, but the frame was bent so the repairs would have exceeded 80%. They totaled it, which was cool as I got a lot more money for the car than I would have trading it in before it was wrecked. But now it costs more to insure his car than the amount of the payment.
