How much is my car worth needing an engine replacement?

The 3.5 engine is known for its oil problems. Good luck finding a good used 3.5 in a junk yard. If they have one, you'll pay a premium price for it. Putting in a junk yard engine will lower the selling price of the car.

The going labor rate for swapping out and engine is about $800. A good rebuild engine with a good warranty (like Jasper) is probably going to run about 3,000. A new engine will help you get a better price, but only by about $500. People get scared when they hear the first one went bad.

So, are you willing to invest 4,000 to get 8,000? Because as it sits now. you'll be lucky to get $2K

I would get another opinion first, but if the engine needs replaced you could probably get a guaranteed engine from a junk yard and have it installed for $800.00 to $1400.00.

This would not affect the status of your Car Title in any way.

7 year old car... fried motor... couple hundred bucks to a scrapper/junkyard.

Why not buy a used or remanufactured engine?

try google it also

I have a 2007 Chrysler Sebring Limited Edition fully loaded. It broke down last week and (diagnosed as "oil wasn't reaching the engine", they said the engine is done, needs to be replaced. I'm wondering what would be a fair value to try and sell it for in as-is condition. BlueBook says its worth about $8,500 in "good" condition, for what it's worth. Everything else on the vehicle is great, fully loaded, leather, sunroof, etc. Needs a new engine. What's a fair asking price? Or would it be worth trying to get someone to replace the engine for me and then sell it? I'd rather not do the latter but figured it's worth asking if there would be a big difference or if I should just try to sell as-is.
