2x+3y=8 how do I solve for x and y?

x,1 y,2

Solve for y: y = (-2/3)x (8/3)

Plug the equation into your graphing calculator, you can just simply move the cursor to the x and y intercepts: x=3.6 and y=2.9 (rounded to tenth)

Or if there is a second equation, then you do system of equations.

If there are no more specifications just substitute for any equivalent number: x=1,y=2 x=4,y=0 x=-2,y=4 Ect.

There are an infinite number of solutions. In order to get a specific solution, you need 2 independent equations containing the unknowns.

there is no solution, there are an infinite number of solutions.

ETA

"Keep in mind that x means x-intercept and y means y-intercept."

Rubbish. The equation is for a straight line, there are an infinite number of solutions. If they wanted the intercepts they would have asked for them.

To solve for x and y you have to plug in any number for x and then find y.

ask your teacher.
