How much money would I get if I brought to a scrap yard???

Just looked at an ad from a joint in Spokane that offers $1.65/lb for 50-200 lb of "yellow" brass, $0.85/lb for 50-200 lb of "contaminated" brass, and suggests there is a significantly better price for more than 200 lbs.

I'm not going any farther, because I'm sure these things vary locally. It just gives you a clue that your stuff could be worth $1000 or $2000 or more. You have to find an accepting facility in your own area.

Depends on the Yard and your location.

If you are in an area that has competition then you can get upwards about 80% of the PMI (Predicted Market Index or current TTL value (selling it at 44k LB's).

Also there is MANY different types or brass Yellow, Red, and plated (IE. nickle plated) also there is clean and dirty brass (fittings with rubber rings or any other non metallic materia.

The answer is RIGHT now if you have clean, high quality Yellow Brass and live in a competitive area your could get as much as 1.55-1.70 per pound - THATS ON THE HIGH SIDE -

Also BE VERY VERY careful that you don't accept trash prices even if it is dirty. I've worked for a scrap yard and 80% of their money is made from the "dirty" stuff they sales as clean or clean up themselves.

If it is below $1.50 get a second opinion - you can

The cost for brass varies from state to state and company to company. Some companies will charge you one price one day then change it the next. Try calling some of your local scrap yards and compare prices. You may be able to find the phone numbers through online yellow pages for your state or your phone book. Most pay more for brass than they do for other metals. In Tennessee, one scrap yard pays according to the type of brass. For example, they pay $1.90 a pound for red brass, 70 cents a pound for refinery brass, and $1.70 a pound for yellow brass and these prices are subject to change. You may also need to ask them if you have to provide ID because some states require this due to recent thefts.

about $3.

The current scrap price for yellow brass is ~ $1.65/ lb so 1000 lbs will bring you ~ $1,650.00 .
