What type of engineer would suit me best?

Automobile companies hire the absolute fewest number of engineers that they possibly can. This makes it hard to get in, but once you are there they treat you like royalty. It is almost impossible for an outsider to speak to an automotive engineer, if you don't believe me just try and call one on the phone!

By engineer I mean somebody with a bachelors or better in engineering. Automobile companies love to hire glorified mechanics and CALL then engineers, don't be fooled! The other thing that they do is hire Mechanical Engineers and try to use them as Electrical Engineers. This leads to massive amounts of death, destruction, lawsuits and general carnage. (Sudden acceleration, ignition system fires, brake failure etc. etc.).

So the take home lesson is that if you are an ME and they give you a EE task, refuse to do the task. Quit if you have to, it is a lot easier to find a new job than to get involved in hundreds of wrongful death suits.

Getting a job at an automotive company can be difficult. I would suggest a mechanical engineering degree. That would let you work at an automotive company or at other companies if your plan doesn't work out.

I think since you have ambitions in various industries ie. Automotive, Aviation ... your best bet would either be Mechanical as it provides most of the engineering aspects which should allow you to pick between automotive or aviation, otherwise manufacturing engineering if your serious abt making machinery for these industries.

Let me tell you from now all engineering is stressful and involves IT usage...you'll def come across MATLAB, CATIA or some other 3D modelling software, CES and others, these are the simplest of the top of my head. But in the end its all worth the stress I guess Nothing comes easy.

you can go for automotive engineering........

I would like a career in engineering somewhere at an automotive company like: McLaren, Audi, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce or at an airplane company like Boeing or Airbus. What i would like to do is to create or help to create the machine or parts of them.I think this is a branch of designing if i'm correct. Also to ensure that everything is well done and at its place.I think i would really enjoy a job like this.I like to create stuff on paper sheets but i don't mind to get messy either.I'm ambitious and once i started a thing i can't let it go until it's finished. So what type of engineer do you think that suits me best?you can also specify other types of engineering close to what i want but not with IT stuff because it's to hard.
