Does Autozone Crankshaft Kit Part Number: 12320 truly fit an Olds Diesel block?

I believe there is a website dedicated to the 5.7L Olds Diesel.

I am with you....more often than not, 5.7L means chevy small block, and their computers are simply wrong.

Since the Olds was never anything BUT a two piece oil seal, that too leads me to believe they are wrong.

HI, I'd go to Summitracing.com and order it from them... Now you may be confusing there part number for an OEM part number they may not be the same..

good luck

What part of GM's manufacturing process don't you understand? Especially back in 60's through 90's that crank shaft could have fit any GM 5.7L engine of the era, Think they made a special one just for the diesel? Guess again, they took it off the same assembly line as the rest of the 350 small block crankshafts. Why do you think that 350 diesel was such a boat anchor?

Advanced Auto Parts shows the same info.

Perhaps you should post in a user's forum like this one. There are probably more.

I looked up a crank kit on autozone for a 1985 Chevy Caprice 5.7l Olds Diesel and got a

Part Number: 12320. Notes: Kit includes crankshaft with matching main and rod bearings; casting # 3932442, 93426651; two piece rear oil seal.

The 3932442 and 93426651 are both small block chevy crank casting numbers. They use a different journal size. The part I need is casting #558711 for a 1978-'85 Olds LF9 5.7l Diesel V-8 .

I think they have the wrong part listed. There is a review from a day ago where someone just bought one and said they are happy. Seems odd to me. I called Autozone and all they did was check the computer and pull up exactly what I have and they claim it will fit my application. I think they are wrong.

I searched the internet and all signs point to Autozone is wrong - so I thought I'd turn to you, the Yahoo Answers Community to see if a human has an answer.
