Doing it occasionally won't harm the car but don't make a habit of it.

Not at all. The engine and trans are close to the same speed at times and it is easy to do this. When the clutch goes out you can drive this way in a pinch. Not recommended though.

I was coming to a stop at a set of traffic lights so I think I released the clutch early then shifted from 4th gear to neutral which meant I didn't press the clutch while shifting + braking. When I had shifted from 4th to neutral there was no noise but I am worried if I damaged the gearbox/transmission/clutch or car parts
