Someone told me at a red light that my tire wobbles?

I have to agree with R and thebax2006. Probably a wheel cover not on correctly. If the mechanic prior the wobbling comment physicaly removed the wheel, then he may have not fully reinstalled the wheel cover. I would think if your wheel is loose you would know just by the vehicle's erratic behavior. Some brakepads come with steel blades that begin to scrape the rotor when theyvé worn down to replacement time.

Anyone that sees metal flakes on a wheel and doesn't take the wheel off and inspect where they came from is an idiot. The very least it would be is metal to metal brakes which is when there is no brake pad left and the rotor is being chewed away! The next thing that happens is that the caliper piston pops pout of the caliper and your brake pedal goes to the floor. Nice way to die! You even check the lug nuts to make sure the tire isn't about to fall off?! Odd you don't feel the wobble if it's so bad it's visible to others.

All you have to do is to jack up the car as if that tire was flat. Once the tire is off the ground, grab the edges and attempt to shake it. It probably is fine but the hubcap, the rim, could be damaged or could give the illusion. Besides, how do you know the person was honest and not just pulling your chain? When you go to the next mechanic, ask to see yourself as the wheel assembly is checked out. You might learn something.

Loose wheel.

Track rod / tie rod / tie bar.

Wheel not balanced.

I had a rear wheel on my car that would wobble pretty bad, was because the tie bar had snapped.

Check the amount of play in the front wheel, there should be very little if any.

You have a serious mechanical problem that cannot be remedies through anything less than actual application of tools and techniques.

Find a mechanic, determine the problem and develop a viable solution to it. This is called problem solving.

it could be a few things ! it could be a bad tie rod, ball joint or the wheel bearing is loose ! it even could be the lug nuts are loose !

"Mechanic said its just metal flakes in my brake pads and I can wait until the sound goes away or gets worse "

WTF! If it gets worse, it could mean you lose your brakes, and god help anyone in your way.

check your lug nuts and make sure they are tight.

or your wheel could fall off.

Go to the new guy and have it checked, what are you waiting for?

bent wheel bad ball joint

I was at a red light and someone motioned to me from a car and said I should get my car checked out bcz my front right tire wobbles.

I was just at the mechanic on Monday bcz I hear a sound like two rods scraping when I drive at a low speed making a right turn or just driving straight. Mechanic said its just metal flakes in my brake pads and I can wait until the sound goes away or gets worse

There's a new mechanic I want to try tmw who has 25 positive reviews nearby, very few unhappy ones...

any ideas what my problem could be? I have a feeling the mechanic I saw overlooked something.
