Why is my car starting weird?

Well what's wrong with it is that it's a Mitsubishi, duh :P (Just kidding)

Thick oil in a cold climate (it turns to a honey-like consistency and doesn't flow through all parts of the engine until it is a bit warmed up, essentially the engine is running dry with little to no oil for many seconds upon start-up and isn't great for the motor), old spark plugs, dead-ish battery that barely has enough in it to turn the starter motor, failing ignition coil, fuel filter might need replacing, fuel pump may be going bad (which can happen on certain cars if you run them dry aka run out of gas). Depends on when the shaking happens, what it sounds like, feels like etc.

I would take it to another shop for a second opinion as someone listening and experiencing the issue will be able to do a better job than our guesses. Describe specifically what and when. Make sure they know it is a conditional problem and has to be sitting for a while and be cold for this to occur (aka cold start-up in low temperature), otherwise they'll jump in the car right after you drove it over and dropped it off and think nothing is wrong.

Starters don't act differently from various weather. Batteries do. If that tells you anything. If it's been really cold lately, You probably just need a battery.

SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL MIGHT BE DRAINING BACK INTO THE TANK AFTER IT SETS AWHILE....TRY TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF 2 or 3 TIMES, BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY TRY TO START IT........IF THIS WORKS THE FUEL SYSTEM CHECK VALVE IS'NT UP TO PAR......AND THAT IS USUALLY IN THE FUEL PUMP,IN THE GAS TANK......IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM....

probably the starter, mine does that too, but i wouldnt worry too much about it, I doubt it'll hurt anything

Maybe starter? Maybe thick oil? I know if you have very cold temps that is when you find out if your starter is going bad. The oil is cold and it's harder to turn over the engine as apposed to warm oil.

You could have your starter tested?

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. When I start my car (usually it happens in the morning or when I first start my car after it's been sitting there for a while), it doesn't start right. It's like it's having a hard time starting and it shakes a little. What could be wrong with it? I had an inspection done on it recently and they said nothing was wrong.
