What do you call the inner rim of a tire?

The innermost rim of the tyre, the bit that sits in the wheel, is called the bead.

Hi if the bead is damaged you need a new tyre as today most car tyres are tubeless and air will escape. it might even be impossible to inflate it this does get damaged when a tyre gets kerbed. hit a kerb with a tyre does damage the bead of the tyre. i fairly common accident for most.

Here we go then from centre to outer

The lip

The bead

The sidewall

The shoulder

The tread

The space where the wheel would go hasnt really got a description its just a space however you could be called a whel hub insert

The hole between the beads is NOT part of the tire. It's empty space.

isn't it the same name as the one in the middle of a doughnut?

On the wheel it would be the hub, on the tire it would be the bead.

Hi all,

I'm wondering what's the name of the most inner part of the tire, the hole directly in the centre, so as to speak. When the tire isn't on a car you can see through it, can't think of the name and need to know for a photography project (it's a long story)

I'd appreciate any ideas anyone might have on what it's called!
