Is there a way to remove the shine on my truck?

I would talk to an actual body shop to find out exactly which grit to use but wet sanding is the best way.It will take the clearcoat off but leave the basecoat below.I've seen a few 5.0 liter Mustangs with a Plastidip paint job that turned out really good too.It holds up pretty well too.You could buy a can of it and do your hood and see if you look it before doin the whole vehicle.Eventhough it holds up really well, you can peel it off if you don't like the way it looks

Use a grey scotchbrite pad and comet with water, scrub real good then final scrub go the direction of the panels, like from front to back on the sides and one side to the other side on the top panels, lightly so the fine scratches do not catch the eye as much.

You want the final light scuff going one direction.

Scotch Brite

Lightly sand the rest of the truck.

try google it also

I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T. The paint on it is sun faded in some spot so it looks like a matte black in those spots. I was wondering if there is way to get all the shine off to make the whole truck look matte black without getting it resprayed. That just costs too much.
