I just want to know why is it this answer.
your comma moves according to your exponent. -2 means it moves 2 positions to the left. +2 would mean that it moves to the right
Exponents are expressed by '^'. Example 10^3 =1000.
Any time you see a negative exponent it means the value is a fraction because 10^0 = 1
mm is 1/100 of a meter. 10^-2 is 1/10^2 or 1/100.
The term milli means 1 thousandth, so a milli meter means 1 thousandth of a meter.
44.5 mm is = to 44.5*10^-3 (not 2) meters or .0445 meters.
I know it is all very confusing but after a while it grows on you like hair.
44.5 mm=44.5 mm*1m/1000mm=.0445 m which is not equal to 44.5*10-2m.
44.5*10-2m, (-2 is the exponent)
I just want to know why is it this answer.
