Why car making grinding noise when I step on the brakes?

When was on my way home from work my car started to make grinding noise when I was stopping at a light. What could be the problem and also my car pull to the right when I stop

You need new brakes. Don't get just one side. Get both sides done. Pads and rotors. Getting one side will cause all sort of problemsz -always do the pair

The right front brake pads are worn down to the rivets..so you have metal to metal contact with the discs. Replace both front pads immediately.

Sounds like your left hand pads are worn right out, making the car pull to the right as you brake because the friction between worn pad and rotor is less that the better pads on the right.

It doesn't really matter: you need to replace both sides pads, and probably rotors (since a noise like you describe probably means a ruined rotor). Good news is that the alignment is probably OK, if it was OK before the noise started..

replace pads and rotors

You need a,Brake replacement & a Front-end Alignment.

I would recommend getting the Brakes on all 4 wheels done cause thatll help in the long run.

That means you need new brake pads, and if your car pulls to the right, you will also need an alignment.
