My advice to you would be go for what you are most passionate about and feel you have a better understanding of. You will have greater chances becoming project manager based on your performance, understanding, drive & dedication.
Btw, occupation means everything. When you begin interviewing, make it about you as well as the company. Does it offer what you want? Will it let you grow in your career? Will it hold you back? Is there a position for project manager you can foresee in the future?
Industrial Engineering.
It is basically Mechanical Engineering focused more on manufacturing and management.
Many become project managers after only 5 years of experience.
Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil engineers could also become project managers. It just takes them a little but longer to get there.
I have been involved in project work for 35 years and I have seen project managers with degrees in all disciplines. You could go for a dual degree in construction management and general engineering..or a specific discipline degree with a minor in project management.
I suggest you check with some of the universities you are considering to see what options you have.
If you want to be an Engineering Project Manager you better get an MBA after you get your Enineering degree and it also helps to have your Professional Engineers License.
hello there, I would like to know which field of engineering is gonna put me up in the position of a Project manager because I have considered Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering and civil engineering and I figured out that I like all of them, (and to get some stuff stright in here I'm pretty good at math, physics)....so I was confused about which one should I pick but my GOAL is to be a project(s) manager so whats gonna be the fastest way of these fields that gonna put me in that position ?
