Can you use a 10 HP 230 volt motor in countries where voltage is 220 volts?

...sure...provided design frequency is the same you are about to use !!!!

Voltage wise, you will have no problem. Most motors are design for a voltage tolerance of +-10% so the range for a 230 volt motor would be between 207 to 253 volts.

The next item to be concerned with is the frequency. If this machine is a three unit design for 60 cycle and you want to apply it on a system with 50 cycles you have to maintain the same voltage to frequency ratio. So a 230 volt /60 Hz = 3.83Volts/Hz. So for a 50 Hz system the typical voltage supplying this 10 HP motor needs to be 191.7 volts.in order to develop the same torque.

Hope this helps,

Most motors have a large voltage tolerance, so providing No of phases are the same, and frequency of supply is the same, yes you should be able to.

When a motor is rated 230VAC, that means 208 to 240 VAC. Depending on the type of motor and the application, the frequency may matter and it may not. A motor has to be able to work over a range of input so it is unlikely there is a problem.

That depends. Single phase or three phase? As long as the phase is correct, 230 motor on 220 line is just fine.

The voltage is ok, but you need to be sure the frequency is the same.

Yes,it is practically,same voltage.
