compete solar cost for one watt which includes everything cells to battery and converter is about 1 dollar per watt but if you ordered greater then cost decreases
"Solar system" doesn't mean anything. You think about machinery on the roof because that is what the government will subsidize, and the subsidy is the only reason anybody buys it. If you think for a while about actually saving money you start to realize that solar means something very different from what most people assume it means.
A solar clothes dryer is a rope. Solar air conditioning is a tree. Solar hot water means a black water tank. In Japan they use a black plastic bag on the roof. They fill it with water in the morning and by evening it is warm, just in time for the fubaru. In rural USA they use a tank from a defunct water heater in a defunct refrigerator. The refrigerator lies on its back on the south side of the house and the tank is painted black. They open the box on a warm morning and close it when the sun no longer strikes the tank. But very few people will put up with such low level technology, free or not. They want machinery on the roof so all the neighbors will know they are innovators.
