Punto mk 2 power assisted steering has stopped working will it still steer just tougher then usual?

Hi yes it will still turn but it will be very difficult to steer it needs fixing other wise you could be involved in an accident. it will fail an MOT whenit gets tested next time. if it is fitted it should work.

As previous answers

But dont try driving it home - legally its not roadworthy

that makes your insurance invalid

Get stopped (and ita likely will cos its very diffcult to drive cars with power stearing that dont work) and the car will be seized and towed away, So not only will you have a fine+points on yor license - you will have to pay the towing fee on top

Put it on a trailer and either take it to a garage to get it repaired, or home so you can do it yourself.

and the reason its hard to turn is cos modern cars generally have wide flat tyres that grip the road.far better than they used to do years ago.(just compare the tyres on a car not fitted with power steering to one that is

Power steering is needed to turn those tyres. If it wasnt fitted you just couldnt turn the wheel without BIG muscles.

It will steer harder than a car with manual steering and here's why: When you turn the steering wheel the power steering fluid is being forced through the failed pump and steering rack.

That's exactly what will happen. Just be careful when you're parking and un-parking in lots. I drove my first car for a year with no power steering...

Don't buy it unless you can pay a big repair bill. That's WHY the person selling it is trying to get rid of it.

He saw you coming.

Very much tougher. Not suiitable for everyday use but just to get you home
