Are people a dead load or a live load on a bridge?

I got it wrong when I wrote live load, they're not parmanent.

How come?

People are definitely a live load. Has nothing to do with them being dead or alive, but rather that the load is not static or long-term. It moves and is unstable and transient in nature, so it is "live".

Most people on a bridge are "live" loads since they go on and off the bridge. They could be "dead" (static) loads if they are stacked up on the bridge and never move. (unlikely: dead bodys on the bridge are usually removed by maintenance crews. Which themselves are live loads)

Generally, dead load is the weight of the structure itself and live load is the weight of and the forces of everything else it supports or resists. So a funeral procession would be a live load.

People are both alive and are live loads on a bridge. You are correct.

How come? Don't know why. Buy him some beer. He will lighten up on you. ;D

It depends on what those people are doing on that bridge.
