Car caught fire due to faulty wiring.Should i sue manufactuer?

Not likely to win if you sue them.

First, your auto policy covers fire as an insured peril under Comprehensive coverage. You can't be compensated by your insurance policy and then sue someone else for the same compensation. That's known as double-dipping, and it's against the law.

If you didn't have Comprehensive coverage, it's because the car was too old and / or used to be worth paying the premium. And if that's the case, there is no way you'd win a lawsuit. In a used car, you'll never be able to prove that the fire was caused by faulty wiring instead of regular wear & tear. And if any work had been done by anyone other than a factory-approved technician, ever, say goodbye to your case against the manufacturer. Even if it was something like having stereo equipment or an alarm system installed, it's going to kill your case completely.

The only way you'll sue the manufacturer and succeed would be if you signed the sales agreement yesterday on a brand-new car, then came back today and found it on fire before you could even insure it.

If your case is anything else, don't waste your time and money. Car companies have lawyers who know the law much better than you do.

Talk to your insurance agent. Your GM vehicle was long overdue to catch fire from a poor quality harness in the steering column anyway. Didn't you get the recall notice? Oh, I almost forgot. They never recalled for that, just a technical service bulletin.

How old is the car and how many times has the wiring been tampered with or modified?

OMFG, is this a car or a hair drier?

yes. definitely
