Got scammed with a car help?

No you can't sue him. All person to person car sales are on an As Is basis unless the seller gave you a written warranty. It is always your responsiblity to have the mechanic of YOUR choice inspect a car before you buy it. There is nothing illegal here. You could try to sue in civil court but the judge will just throw it out saying you made the choice to buy the car before inspecting it so you are stuck with it

It is not illegal to clear the codes. It is only illegal to lie about it when asked directly. Did you ask him if he cleared the codes? Did you have the car checked out by a mechanic before buying? If not, they YOU didn't do your homework. Sorry about the bum deal, but this is what happens when you don't have a vehcile checked out before buying.

Hi when buying cars always buy it from a dealer as then you have some comeback.

That is why before you buy it you should take it to mechanic and get it checked out.

A scam you mean you were ripped off

I bought a car 3 days ago it had no engine lights and ran pretty good. 3 days later the transmission goes bad and the engine lights came on, the brake lights came on and change engine oil light came on and the ABS control light came on! I towed it to a machanics shop and he told me that this man used a machine that you plug from under the cars dash board to clear all the engine lights that come on so you wouldnt see it when buying it. Isnt that illegal? im so upset a new transmission will cost me $2,000 i paid $6,000 for the car can i sue him for this? What can i do?
