Which gas grade should I use for my new CRV?

89 is pointless cause cars don't require them anymore. back in the day when gas prices were cheap 89 was considerable because it offered a middle ground. But now with gas so high what's the point in getting 89 when 93+ only cost like 10 cents more?

The type of fuel you use during the break in period doesn't matter. As long as it meets manufacture specs(so 87) you will be in the clear. The car is programmed to run with 87 octane so putting in anything higher will not gain any performance/efficiency unless there is a custom tune.

You really don't understand what octane is. Higher octane is basically a flame retarder to slow down combustion to prevent pre-ignition and knock. You don't have a high compression engine so you don't need anything higher than 87. Putting in higher octane will only make the gas companies richer.

What is this--the 20th time you've asked this question?

OR HIGHER means at LEAST 87, and nothing lower. You don't ever need to run any octane higher than 87.

Any gas octane higher than 87 is a waste of money.

I've ran 87 in my 2002 grand prix and i'm at 264k miles. you don't need to run anything higher than 87. 91+ is for engines like snowmobiles that cant take ethanol

A higher choice of octane number prevents the knock sensor from retarding ignition advance. A little fact that the above person couldn't comprehend.

I would use 87 or higher. If you only require 87, you are wasting money buying anything rated higher if it costs more per gallon.

Just use regular. Higher octane doesn't do as much as you would think

What does it say in the owners manual?

Did you read it?

I got my new 2014 Honda crv, which gas grade should I use currently, 87 or 89?

The user manual says use 87 or higher. I am thinking maybe I should use 89 during break-in period? I feel i am a little overconcerned?
