Does a car manufacturer have to repair your car if it's 8 years old (advice)?

S**t happens on 8 year cars. It might be worth seeing if VOSA are interested in case it's a known recall issue, otherwise you need to talk to the people who serviced it, as they should have lookd for stuff about to drop off

Nope it is way past the guarantee. Have you ever heard of Italy being renound for steel? No because they arent and hence their cars are made of cheap quality rubbish. If you want a car with a longer than usual warantee then go for Kia (7 years) or else you are left with the typical 3 years from most other manufacturers.

Your 'warranty' does not last for 8 years........So no......You're on your own i'm afraid.

DR Bearface. It's a 'FIAT'.....FFS ! What possible relevance has your ridiculous and false claim on the life of a "Mercedes" got to do with ......anything ??

depends warranty ,insurance honestly every one should know how to fix cars to get a liscence i know how to fix cars not the new japanese fwd pieces of crap cars from 80s 90s 70s 60s 50s 40s all easy mechanical engines by the way fiat means fix it again tony

Hi the design life of a Mercedes is 8 years. so you have no come back on anyone. so time to dig into your pockets and either get it fixed yourself or have it scrapped which will cost you to have it taken away from the garage.

I would take the bolts back to the bolt people and ask them if you can have a new boat.

8 Years old, Definitely not, It is well past its warranty of 3 years.

I am lost for words at the stupidity of some people on this site.............wtf makes you think you are entitled to it being fixed for free by the manufacturer ?????

You're joking......right?

Short answer, no.

Ok here is the situation.

I have a fiat punto grande 1.2 56 reg.

Whilst driving yesterday the engine made a strange sound and then a huge bang occurred. I pulled over rang the RAC and when they arrived inspected the damage.

There are 2 bolts on either side of the engine mounting it in place, what had happened was both bolts on the passenger side of the car had completely cut in half and my engine had fell out the car.

I recovered the 2 bolts which showed no rust or wear on them and I've never had work done on the engine myself.

What should I do?

I rang fiat this morning who basically said it's an old car so not our fault...
