Should i get my o2 sensor replaced?

You honestly believe the simians at Midas? Take it to an authorized dealer.

If you know which one it is(many vehicles have up to 4) replace it. By yourself if possible. In this scenario, the O2 sensor is likely the cause of which the other problems are the result.

AN o2 sensor has nothing to do with an evap emissions problem, which is what that code indicates. Midas is the last place I would take my car to have anything done to it.

Midas has a reputation ( at least where I live ) for upselling unnecessary jobs.

The problem with just replacing an O2 sensor is that the fault that caused the oxygen sensor to go bad in the first place may still be present and would foul up the new one quickly again.

I suggest taking your vehicle elsewhere for a 2nd opinion.

so i took my car in because i had a check engine light come on, and ended up with the code po441 which is something with emissions. i took it to midas to see exactly what was wrong and they said i needed a new cat converter, new flex section (which i just replaced 2 years ago) a new o2 sensor, and i had 2 exhaust leaks right after the cat so they said they would have to cut out that part of the pipe and weld in a new piece, also a direct fit converter? After everything was added up it came out to about $1700 to fix all these things, so i turned them all down since the car has 231K on it and needs other repairs as well. I'm going to buy a new car this fall sometime the guy said my car would probably be fine to drive til winter before it starts to loose power due to my cat or whatever. just wanted to know if i atleast get the o2 replaced if that will help my gas mileage at all or no dont even bother? (i live in a area where i dont have to pass emissions tests)
