Crackling noise when coming out of a left turn?

You may have a suction side leak on the power steering pump, check the return line clamps on the steering gear to the pump. Air bubbles will make a cracking sound when they get into the centrifugal pump from a leak or cracked hose since there is no pressure on that hose. The hose won't always leak but it can allow air to be pulled in on suction. I would look at the pump inlet for a crack in the hose.

Sounds suspiciously like a front wheel bearing letting go. Easy fix with a decent set of tools -- you tube it.

Wheel bearing, ball joint, or tie rod end. Take it to a mechanic if you don't know how to check these.

That doesn't sound good

I have a 1971 chevy c20 2wd, and when I make a left turn it occasionally makes a crackling noise. It's not a pop, or a squeal like the brakes, but a crackling like gravel. I have yet to pull the wheel off as my jack broke, but being underneath the truck looking at ball joints etc everything looks normal. Sometimes the noise occurs when I am driving along I a straight line but I can't get it to make the noise parked and moving the wheel. I feel the vibration in the wheel when it happens but it does not affect my steering.

Any help would be appreciated as this noise is pissing me off haha.
