Car has extended warranty, it needs a transmission. Do I HAVE to get a used one that the company insists on?

The warranty is like an insurance policy. It's responsibility is to make you "whole" again, insurance term. You had a working used transmission before the problem so they are only require to get you back to that point.

Get out the policy and ask them to show you where in the policy it says they can use junk parts. If it isn't in the policy, they can't do it. It's really that simple. I've had to do this before. Every time I said, "Show me where it says that." they always say, "Well that's the company policy." And I say, "I'm not bound by your company policy. We're bound by what's in the contract. If you can't show me where it says that, then you're in breach and I'll call the attorney' general's office. "

Works every time.

The bad transmission you have now isn't new, is it?

Not if YOU"RE paying for the tranny. Use whatever you want.

used/rebuild, hmmm.

My car's transmission is covered on my extended warranty, however, even though I do not see anything about me having to use used parts, they are insisting on a used/rebuild tranny. Are they able to do this???? HELP!!!
