Can I work in software engineering holding a computer engineering degree?

You can work in software engineering with a computer engineering degree. No question about it. The main thing they're looking for is "can you write code in ### language," "can you think about problems analytically and solve them on paper," and "are you the kind of person our team could work with?" I have an electrical engineering degree (further removed from software) and have been a candidate for software engineering jobs. I know a guy with a mechanical engineering degree who works as a software engineer. It just comes down to those questions - can you code, can you problem solve, and can we work with you?

With a degree in Computer engineering you can easily work in Software development. It's pretty much the same. This way you'll have more choices. You are in year 1 right now and in this year they teach you hardware as well but in successive years it will all be software based. I'd recommend you to continue with what you're doing.

software designers are computer geeks. are you?

Hello, Im studying my 1 year in computer engineering and realize i feel more interested for software development than hardware. Do you believe I can get into software engineering field having a computer engineering degree or should I change to computer science?

thanks guys
