After replacing my pcv valve, will my car run properly if the valve isn't properly inserted into the rubber elbow?

any leaks will cause issues ranging from no start, to bad performance/mpg's. prolly won't acutaully hurt the engine due to computer management and the anti-knock sensor.

-----------

pcv valve preriferals such as that, elbows and gromets, can be had at purdy much any auto parts store. same place you bought the valve from.

FYI,

pcv valves (on this platform) are a hard single part. they purdy much never actually go bad. just get clogged up. so does the hose going from it. a good soaking in fuel typically clears up the issue. pcv valve rattles? it's good to go. no rattle? it's clogged. needs cleaning only.

presonally, i've never had to replace one. unless it had a crack or something like that. plastic ones *may* crack along the body..

The way to tell if it is leaking is to temporarily plug off the hose to the intake manifold. It should not change. If it does, you have a leak. But the leak could be lots of places, including a leaking valve guide.

If you have really high miles and lots of blowby, you might want to permanently disconnect and plug the intake to the PCV and vent it to the air instead.

I guess you need to replace the idle air control valve on-top on the intake manifold. The Nit Wits at Ford designed it so there is no fixing or cleaning properly.

if it,s not fitting tight then it won,t idle right because it will have a vacuum leak !

It looks good but my car is still stalling like before. I have a 97 Ford Taurus. My guess is that it's not seated in the grommet properly though it appears to be. Does it have to be perfect? HELP
