Accidentally emptied tran fluid pan?!?

No problem, Kenny got it right. Don't drive it, screw back the drain plug, unscrew the fill plug and use a pump to pump it back in.

PS if your using a hand pump be prepared for a workout, it's some thick stuff but if it doesn't look clean you might as well buy new ATF while your at it

Either that or tow it. Do not drive it like that at all. Don't even start it. Estimate how much you lost and find the fill plug and squirt it in there. An old quart gear oil container will work. Buy the correct trans fluid too.

Don't drive it. It won't go anyway. Find the fill plug should be at the rear or passenger side. See if you can screw it off and pump back in the ATF.

DO NOT drive it without fluid...., You may make it to the shop, but you will probably need a new trasnmission by the time you get there. Hire a tilt load towtruck and get it towed there if you can't fix it yourself

with the plug back in place, add to the trans to bring the level back up to full with the engine running and trans at operating temp. it does not have a dipstick, look in the owners manual on how to check it. as i recall, engine running and warm, there is a check plug in the pan. pull that out and if it dribbles out, you are ok.

Find the fill plug and pump mercon v until it starts coming out of the hole then start engine and go through all the gears then recheck the level it should be even with the fill hole

You run a vehicle with no ATF in the tranny you'll make it a mile before you fry the transmission and ruin it! WTF ARE YOU DOING PLAYING MECHANIC?!

So long story short I emptied (not totally still some dribbling out by the time I figured out my mistake) my trans fluid pan instead of my oil pan. I have a 2009 ford explorer so it doesn't have the tran fluid stick to check from. My local auto shop is 5 miles away and I don't want to do heavy damage to the transmission. Will I be able to make it down there or will I end up trying to buy all the necessary tools to fix it.
