What's the difference between synthetic oil n regular oil?

Hi you could waste a lot of money putting expensive synthetic oil in an old car. if this car is over 5 years old would be a waste of money which might go towards another spare tyre or something important like a full d

service done by a dealer. so don't waste your money.

synthetic oil is just ordinary oil which has had a few extra additives added for a new engine to help reduce wear. by the time it is 5 years old it is too late to worry about it. changing the oil filter more frequently would be a much better idea.

Regular is from Oil. Synthetic is man made.

Regular oil is refined from crude oil. It is limited by its natural mechanical properties.

Synthetic oil is manufactured and can be given better lubricating qualities and better durability over a wider temperature range.

REG oil is OLD technology featuring CRUDE OILS and lasts for a very short time before hardening and thickening and sludging over inside engine parts with ime! SYNTHETICS are made in laboratories and custom made for many different car makers! AUDI, e.g. require PURE SYNTHETIC OIL with the 502 and 505 RATINGS on the labels. BENZ requires a near match with ratings of 229.3 and 229.5 on them. BMW require synthetic made with LONG LIFE designation! MOBIL ONE and AMSOIL are the generally best accepted makers of REAL LONG LASTING DOMESTIC SYNTHETIC oils! They DO prevent SLUDGE from being made and hold contaminants in a superb colloidal suspension and the engine parts remain CLEAN and un coated with wax and other clogging factors! The West Germans make the BEST synthetic that are good for TWO FULL YEARS between changes made by PENTOSIN and RAVENOL! It is a SHAME that oil change places are not trained about these things and end up RUINING Lots of engines for euro car owners! GM has a special oil called DEXOS< made by PENNZOIL I think, that they have FInally TESTED and approved for use in their cars. VALVOLINE has ruined many foreign engiens as well since it is a WAX REDUCTION type oil that turns back into the wax and sludge and tar it came from over time. ALL OILS have improved over time, but REAL SYNTHETICS prevent lifter failures, and extend engine life TIMES FIVE or SIX with friction reduction and the ability to prevent any coatings from ever forming on engine parts! A MODERN MIRACLE! Many modern engine warrAnties are VOIDED OUT if SYNTHETIC OILS with proper ratings are NOT USED IN THEM! I have desludge maybe a hundred engine that got the use of inferior wax based oils and long oil drains! it is NOT a pretty sight! Go to any junk yard and see what happens with older tech oil in them! They CANNOT handle extremes of COLD and HEAT with any grace or resolve! TURBO CHARGED engines will self destruct quickly as HARDENED COKE and SLUDGE sift out of the reg oil components and them BAKE into engine parts! GOOD LUCK!

Regular - produced as part of the process of refining crude oil from underground sources

Synthetic - manufactured chemically in a factory/process plant

Now, Elsa, don't you think you can answer that yourself? Think about it: one is called "synthetic" and the other isn't. If you don't know what "synthetic" makes, you can look it up.....doesn't take any more effort than asking others.
