What happens when you put too much oil on your car?

I added oil to go to a trip and I believe I added too much oil to it and my car started to emit white smoke. I turned of my car, but my car wont start now . . .

Please list the make, model, year and miles. You added oil, did you check the dipstick, and now realize you misread it?

Where is the oil level now? Overfilling the oil can cause excessive pressure in the engine, which can blow a head gasket. The oil can foam up and not circulate properly causing the engine to overheat causing a few issues, one being a blown head gasket, or warped heads.

How many miles did you drive it after the oil fill? The fewer the miles the less likely that caused the problem.

It's a great way to burn every bearing out of the motor. The crankshaft counter weights beat the excess oil to an air filled milkshake. Then the oil pump forces air and oil to frictional surfaces they overheat and fail.

LOL ...Too much oil can cause the spark plugs to get fouled enough not be able to ignite the fuel and the engine will flood. Too much oil will not keep an engine from "turning over', but the overly fouled plugs can certainly prevent it from starting.

You car choked You need to drain excess oil

try putting it IN your car next time, it worked better when i tried it

You blew it up.
