Stock air filter mystery pipe? Help?

Hi well done jack a good answer. yes sadly jack is right most modern cars use the air coming up from the exhaust manifold to help with getting the engine warmed up a lot quicker so it uses less fuel.

so now it does less mpg and has made no difference to the performance. it could actually be worse. on acceleration and top speed. so now you have i hope learnt that the manufacturer of the car knows more about automotive engineering than you do.

all you have is a shinny new chrome plated filter box.

which adds nothing to the car and may actually cost you more in fuel.

actually it added 7 bhp, and the issue with my car losing power has completely gone...so the cars weights less, it breathes better, runs smoother and still the fruitcakes on yahoo answers say i'm doing everything wrong...stick to trolling the internet because you know nothing about induction systems...

"I've upgraded my air filter"

No you have not, you have degraded it and will be losing power with a cone filter and the engine will not be running correct. The vacuum pipe needs to go back on to the original air box as it is there for a reason.

That then will be the vacuum supply pipe for the heater control power

Okay, so I've upgraded my air filter in my car (renault clio mk3)...my stock air filter had 3 holes, one was air in and the other was air out.

But there's another smaller tube? I thought it had something to do cooling the engine block down but ever since I upgraded the air filter I feel like the heater is on in the the car? I can also feel heat coming through the vents.

On the smaller tube I fitted a smaller cone air filter typically used on smaller cc motorbikes...

Do you know what this small tube does or how could I reduce the heat inside the car...Thanks :)
