Should I replace my motor oil, or just add more?

I bought a car but I dont know what kind of oil is in it, so should I drain the oil and add new oil, or just fill it with more oil?

Anytime you buy a used car it's beat to just change the oil and filter so you know it's done and can keep track of the mileage from that point on. Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. I'm wondering why you bought a vehicle with low oil. That's a good sign the previous owner abused it!

Well it wouldn't hurt to replace the oil.. 30-40 bucks depending on what brand. If it's in need of oil make sure to check for any leaks, cause it's either burning it or leaking it..

first check your oil, if it is a transparent light brown color its still good

if its black or a very dark brown you want to change it

you definitely want to put new oil in your engine, oil reduces friction and wear in your engine

and always change the oil filter when you change the oil, not changing the oil filter is the equivalent of taking a shower and putting on the same dirty clothes that haven't been washed in weeks

the type of oil you put in your car depend on how many miles you have on your odometer

and you don't want to go to those places giving oil changes for $20, those places are using cheap oil and i have even caught places like this not changing my oil filter

cheapest way to do it is to change it yourself, you can get good oil for $20 - $30

and a new oil filter for $5 - $15 depending on which brand

I would advise you to drain it completely then fill it with a quality 100% Synthetic as well as getting a high quality filter. Your vehicle is an investment as well as an asset you want to make sure it is running in top shape.

look at the owners manual or open the door and look at the side it should tell you the weight and wether its synthetic after that its what ever brand you want i personally replace my oil when i get a new car just to be safe and to keep track of it easier

Drain the old oil and start changing it once every 3,000 miles to keep your car healthy!

It won't hurt to add more oil but whenever you buy a card it's best to check the service record to keep up with any maintenance it needs. Or if you don't have a service record, it's best to do all 50 things recommended in the owner's manual. Including oil changes, but that's only a small percent of what you need.

change it and the filter also

and change it as the owners manual says

don't fall for the 3000 mile oil change scam
