Question about battery holder: When it is on and has batteries in it, how would I make it power, for ei., a small fan?

It should have some kind of output - either two wires (typically red and black) or a set of fixed contacts. Either way, connect the fan to those and check rotation, it should push air out on the side opposite the motor. If that is not true, invert the polarity.

However, check first the fan voltage it should be 6Vdc (= 4 * 1.5 V).

The holder loooks like it holds 4 AA batteries so in 'series' gives you 6 volts. You may need to put a switch in the circuit or your fan will be running all the time it is connected.

2 wires from the two terminals on the outside of battery holder, though a switch to the 2 wires of the fan. Turn switch on, fan spins.
