New gear linkage fitted. One week later can't get second gear?

Hi when parts like this are replaced it usually indicates that more parts are also very worn. so chances are there are more worn parts.

so this could start to get expensive. i bet this is one of these

tip-tronic gearboxes. i have heard extra play in the mechanism is an issue.

Take it back to the garage and ask them politely to check their work

Took it back to the garage. One of the circling had come off the new part! They pushed it back on and all is well again. Cheers.

challenging factor search using google that could actually help

It needs to go back to the garage and re-adjusted. I've had the same issue with my Vauxhall Insignia.

Would seem more likely given recent work on gear mechanism that an adjustment is needed. Possibly a linkage not fully tightened.

If it was clutch we have all other gears equally needing sane clearance etc so this is very in

I,Ely.

Last week my gear linkage went after wearing out. I had a new one fitted at the garage. When driving just now out of the blue I couldn't get it into second gear.

Now I find I can get it in gear but I have to force it. All the other gears seem to be ok.

Is this a problem with the new linkage or is it clutch/gearbox related?

It's a vauxhall meriva 1.4 if that makes any odds.

Thanks
