My car's gear shift handle is always hot, is there another way it won't be?

Your best bet is to keep the interior of the car from becoming too hot. Those windshield shades - all types - make a big difference. When we lived in Phoenix my wife kept a pair of oven gloves in the car in the summer so the steering wheel would not burn her hands. She found if she used the shades she didn't need the mitts.

Anything not metal. Haha. I have a hard plastic/leather one that gets warm but never been unbearably hot even in 100 degree weather with an all black car. But there are some pretty neat plastic, leather, or glass ones on the Internet that are fairly cheap.

When you aren't using the car throw a towel over it so the sun doesn't directly hit it.

Aftermarket companies must make a leather, fabric or white plastic (repels heat) gear shift knob.

Just place a can coozie over it.

Wear a driving gloves babe.

Put ice on it

Ok I live in San Diego and of course it's always hot. I'm also annoyed that everytime I get in my car, my gear shift is ALWAYS blazing hot and I have to sit in my car for 20 minutes with the AC on high to cool it off. It's a metal gear shift. Is there like a different type of handle that'll not get too hot at least? My car basically parks in non shade so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't hot and even when I cover the gear shift and window it's still hot. Is there like different ones that don't get too hot?
