so best to just let a ford dealer do it.
sorry i know how you feel but they really have you over a barrel these days when things go wrong.
This is a common fault on the 1.4 and 1.6 tdci engine.
The fault is leaking fuel injector copper washer seals. they need replacing.
They fit between the cylinder head and injector.
The black melted plastic is exhaust gasses mixed with the fuel leaking out between the injector and cylinder head .
be warned they are a pig of a job to do
A 1.6 TDCi has a common-rail diesel engines. The injectors on this type of engine are fitted directly into the cylinder head, not to the inlet manifold, so the idea that replacing the manifold will solve an issue with a leaking injector is false.
Get a mechanic with good knowledge of this Ford-PSA diesel engine to give you a second opinion before you start replacing parts without good reason.
indeed
My inlet manifold on my ford fiesta zetec s mk6 08 has even leaking from one of the injectors and their is signs of plastic melting, I have found 247spares.com can get me a used spare with 180days warranty and gasket kit for about £70, I'm an industrial engineer and should be able to fit it but does it need special tools and to be torqued at certain specifications? Or is it just worth getting a garage to do it and have my pants pulled down over the price? Has anyone else done the job and was it quite simple.
