Im looking to get my car painted?

There are too many variables there. The price can vary with your location, with the type of paint used, any preparation required, etc. If your friends say that they paid too much, how much did they pay? That might give you a starting point. Get 3 or 4 estimates, and if possible look at cars that have been painted by the shop. Some places have periodic "sale" prices and discounts. The hardest part of getting a good paint job is actually applying the paint correctly. If you stand around all day spraying paint, you tend to get it right. If it's your first or second car, maybe not... I've had inexpensive paint work done that was actually of good quality.

the jon mac guy is bs

you can get a paint job as cheap as 500-1500K and it can be done just as well as a certified 3K paint job scam.

trust me.

you have to know where your going...read reviews, check out the places, check out the people if they're a little meh...check everything.

I got my car painted for 1K and it looks just like a car that was painted for 3-5K which is the standard paint job cost...not 8K

For what you're wanting, you won't get it done AND LOOK GOOD for less than $2-3000. And no, that's not a scam. Yeman is a moron.

The fact is, for $1500 you'll get Maaco quality with near zero body work for dents/dings, you won't get the door jambs, engine bay, underneath the hood, underneath the trunk, behind the headlights/taillights, etc. painted. Shoot, you'll only get under the emblems and trim work if you're lucky.

But to do it right, that means removing interior trim, bagging and masking off the engine, degreasing the engine bay, sanding, filling any dents, removing the trunk trim, removing the lights, removing the door and all door panels, etc. I can strip the interior out of my car in about 3 hours, by myself. A shop could do it quicker than that.

The only way to get the work done cheap, is to do most of the prep yourself. You can pay a shop about $75/hr to strip your cars interior (figure my 3 hours=$225) or you can do it yourself. Remove the emblems and such yourself (have to keep the lights to get it to the shop). Learn how to fill dents yourself and do the sanding and filling and prep work yourself will drastically cut down the costs. Prep work is the most expensive part...anyone can mix paint and shoot it. The real art lies in the prep and finish.

Anywhere from $200 to $5000 for a "normal" car . . . many times that for an exotic, collectors, classic etc/

Obviously, you're starting with the extra cost of changing the color: painting the door jams, trunks......not knowing anything about the car we don't know how good or complete a job you want (painting under the hood, taking trim off etc etc)

Auto painting is a get what you pay for "thing", you any cheap deals will be very poor quality thus people claiming to being ripped off.

Do visit a few local paint shops, then get a few price quotes, a good shop with give you a few options. A $500 job will suck while a $8,000 job will be awesome, don't expect a cheap deal to look perfect.

hey guys im looking to get my car painted nothing fancy or anything its just the color it is I don't like. I wanted to get it painted either blue or white. Now I know a few people that have painted their cars and they say they got ripped off so my question Is.
