I put 2 litres too much oil in my van will it be ok?

Country Boy strikes again with the "you will ruin the engine" line. He seems to fail to understand that even if the oil is foamed up it is still pumping oil. It will not overheat and fail that is just his imagination.

It seems that you had it drained off after you had run the engine and what has happened is the crank has hit the oil and foamed it up that part is right. What happens then is the oil gets picked up by the PVC valve and sucked into the intake manifold. Normally the PVC would only pick up fumes and there would be no problem. The problem will go away in time but there is danger of clogging the cat with burnt oil. It may be wise to remove the vacuum line at the PVC valve and plugging it so you don't create a vacuum leak problem and run it for a normal day or two. The oil that gets pumped around will remove the foamed oil in the valve covers and it will allow the air to come out in the pan. It will just take time to get the oil out of the inside of the intake manifold.

Hi time to drain out the oil and replace it with less oil. otherwise it will damage the engine as it will blow out oil seals and that could be an very expensive repair.

J J Is a JERK WEED! The DANGER in an over fill is that the rods may bend as piston DOWN forces hit FLUID instead of AIR! THAT is why an engine will BREAK from over fil! Get the excess out at ONCE! The pistons are NOT supposed to SPLASH into fluid, JUST AIR! SKIRTS can break EASILY! J J should KNOW better that\n this! You are in EUROPE (?)What type of truck is this thing WHO MADE THE ENGINE and WHAT type of oil are you using in it?? <<<<<<>>>! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

overfilling by 2 litres is really bad ,dont drive it anymore until you have drained out the 2 litres of oil or you engine could be really damaged if it hasnt already been

DO NOT START THE CAR AGAIN. YOU WILL RUIN THE MOTOR IF YOU DO. The crankshaft counter-weights are splashing the oil to an air filled milk-shake. When the oil pump forces air filled oil to frictional surfaces they overheat and fail!

Drain off the excess oil to the full line on the dip-stick ASAP.

As "country boy" sez, that much of an overfill would cause foaming/frothing of the oil.

But you say you had the excess drained out . . . . it really should return to normal without any intervention. I'm trying to imagine where the excess could have gone where it shouldn't be: emission system? vacuum hoses? brake booster?

Or was it just so loaded-up that the spark plugs are fouled? Don't take my word for it - but were it me I'd give it some more time to sort itself out.......maybe a run at highway speeds. Whatever, it may have fouled a subsystem, but shouldn't have done damage to major internals unless you flogged it when it was overfilled.

I had the excess drained off but every time I start the van I have to turn the ignition for 30 seconds before it starts, when it does start it coughs up loads of dense smoke from the exhaust. Will it be ok or is it fuc#ed? Thanks - its 05 plate and 70000 miles on the clock
