The computer will use this data to change its routine, and become more optimal. But that is data, not programming. And it is wiped by simply leaving the battery off for 15 minutes, while you try to turn on the lights or something, to drain any remaining current in capacitors.
However, this should have been done when the new computer was installed.

Why have you just not taken it back to who put the computer in?
If they installed the computer when the battery was connected, that is a very bad thing to do, and it may need a new computer now.
Well there you have it, you said computer and everyone seems to be on that as the cause of the mysterious problem. I'm wondering just what the car won't do. Won't start? Won't run right? Won't move? Just what do you mean by won't do anything?
Whoever changed the computer should have re-programmed it as part of the work.
in many cars a second hand computer will not work to prevent theft.
Really need more info,but, Disconnect the -NEG. Batt. cable, for about 7 mins., then re-connect it, and with key ON, let it sit for about another 7 mins. NOW, start the car, and run at high IDLE ( about 1400 RPM) for another 7 mins !
