But forced induction decreases mileage, not increase it. Whether turbo charger or supercharger, all they do is force more air into the manifold, and that requires more gas in order to keep the optimum explosive ratio.

The only reason why turbo or supercharging can improve mileage, is when you take a very light engine and give it the same hp as a very heavy engine. That is the only way forced induction can improve mileage.

For example, VW took a 1200 cc diesel engine that normally only had 40 hp and weighed 180 lbs, and used both turbo and supercharging to boost that up to 150 hp, as much as an engine weighing 500 lbs.

That allows VW TSI to then get 80 mpg, while still having decent power.

But you can only really get good forced induction gains with a diesel or something with direct combustion chamber injection, because if you inject in the manifold like most gasoline engines, then the fuel will be ignited by the compression alone, before the spark, and will shatter pistons. It is only with diesel engines that you really can get great hp increases through forced induction. The higher the compression, the more power for the same amount of fuel. But gasoline can not take high compression unless direct injection.

I dont think you can fit the turbo set up fron an eco boost, the reason being compresdor matching, i dont know if you did it, but if you didnt, then im okay to help you find the right turbo, just hit me up here

Gimmr the specs of the stock engine, what is your goal, and ill tell you what can be the best choice, i can help you with favrication, and increasing engine performance and efficience(ie milleage) by just simple free things...

Try Doug Thorley headers, lotsa weird applications. Don't believe Ford manifolds will work, but have seen stock Chevy exhaust manifolds installed upside down for a turbo application. Most of other tubing will have to be fabbed and pieced together. Go for it, no such thing as crazy in custom work, only limiting factors are your imagination and wallet!

Sell your truck and buy a 6.2 or 6.5. A 6.2 would be your best for economy, especially with a Banks turbo.

News Flash: Compare the compression ratio of the Ford echo-boost and your truck now.

You can not force induct a naturally aspirated engine. The compression ratio is too high. You'll smoke holes in the tops of the pistons if you do.

Ok so im tryin to prove alot of people wrong im not looking for arguments right now im looking for some help so please im begging....im trying to build a 1998 chevy k1500 z71...into something fuel efficient(yes crazy I know)...oits a dd truck used regularly for hauling....well im doing the exhaust suspension axles im sealing up alot of stuff for aerodynamics and what im trying to find is some forced induction units that I can put in without modifying the engine....and the only thing I can think of is those turbos on the ford ecoboosts...the tuning will be taken care of and yes the mods to make them actually go on will be taken care of but a question.....where can I buy the setup for the little ones that go on the f-150 ecoboost the whole setup as in the manifolds intercooler tubing everything...then does anyone know where to find some good long tube headers for a chevy 5.7 vortec?....yes I know im crazy im stupid and if it doesnt work its my fault but i wanna try....so if someone could please help me out with links brands sales companies ect it would be greatly appreciated.
