Carburetor replacement.?

I got an old car. I want more power. Can i go out and buy any carburetor and it work.

The car is a 1988 Cadillac Brougham, and the engine is a 5.0 L L02 V8.

You don't need another carburetor. The 307 Olds used an 800CFM Quadrajet, which is far bigger than any recommended for an engine that size, and that RPM potential.

Besides, you can't just swap the carb...that is a computer controlled carb (CCC system) and you'd have to remove a LOT of wiring and re-do the distributor to get it to run right. If it runs good, leave it the hell alone.

Some of us have been wrenching on the mid 80's GM cars for a few decades now.

You can put a 3.90 or 4.10 ratio ring & pinion gear set in the rear end. That will give you instant power. And leave your carb happy.

You could have a machanic put in larger{over size jets} in carb.might help. In the old day, We did this. hope it helps.

NO<...you can't " just buy any carb, " and have it work,....they're not all the same
