Backing in the garage at my house or pulling in?

Some ideas to help you get lined up correctly

1. Put up a target - a piece of paper with a big X - at the geometric center of the free space (note, I mean the area you can park in, which might not be the center of the garage). Use it as an aiming point (but remember, your eye is offset because you are in the driver's seat, not in the center of the car)

2. Buy some garden canes (bamboo) - put them in some soft mounts, at the front of the garage, they will help you line up properly

3. Paint a center line from the middle of the free space to the street.

And one idea to amke it easier

4. Move all the crap you got in the garage out, and put it on eBay.

In or out - ONE of those times you're gonna have to be backing up and it really doesn't matter which/when - risk of damage the same.

*I* prefer backing in because you're less likely to be in a hurry and mess up. When you first get in your car, you may not be taking enough care and if you have to back it out - damage is more likely (IMHO)

What to do? Try attaching some 2X4 to the garage floor for guidance might help.

Not easy (inexpensive) but the "best" solution would be to build a bigger garage.

Practice practice practice.... Learn how to use those mirrors to line-up the car.

A pair of spotters (people watching as you back in) would make it quick.

I have to for the winter for a mustang. Its a 99-04 body style. The mirrors dont fold

Last time i pulled in i scratched the sides because my car is too big

Yes my garage is VERY tight. When i back my car in i take 20 minutes and go slow to not damage the car and my blind spots are awful so incredibly difficult to see. WHAT CAN I DO
