Any one know where to find an in depth list for what function each fuse does in a 98 dodge 1500 5.9 4x4?

The best source would be to find an electrical diagram of the vehicle and find the specific circuit to find out what's on it.

Search: 98 dodge 1500 5.9 4x4 radio dome light electrical circuit diagram

Use the image search for this.

I guess depending on your options there may or may not be all of the items shown in the diagram. Two things I would check are the radio and the underhood light. Unplug the radio from the harness and see what happens. Check the under hood light if you have one ...many have a "gravity switch" that deactivates the circuit when the hood goes down ...if yours is stuck on that would cause some issues.

Since most of the items are bulbs, pull all the bulbs and see what that results in.

Is the dome light switch on? Glovebox jammed 'not quite closed'? Any chewing gum foil wrappers stuffed in a cig lighter socket?

You might be better off with a wiring diagram, as 'fuse listings' rarely show all components fed by a fuse.

A cheap subscription to alldatadiy or mitchell1diy will have both though.

We did our best to check for things like that (lighted mirrors on the visors, dome light, radio, electric seats in case a button was stuck, glove box, cigarette lighter..)

But I think part of the issue is that maybe something is taking power but not in a way that we could see it. For example if the glove box light was on we couldn't see it.

Get a pro wiring diagram from eautorepair.net or alldatadiy.com

I had issues with my battery being drained over night and and knew I had a parasitic battery drain. I put in a new battery, started it that night, parked it and in the morning it was dead again. So i know that it isn't a bad battery, and the starter and alternator both check out. We used a digital clamp meter to see if the battery was being drawn from when the everything was "off" (no key in the ignition and no visible/detectable parts of the pickup left on i.e. lights, etc.) and saw that there was something draining it. We started pulling fuses and saw a significant drop when we removed a specific fuse. The fuse that we pulled powered the dome lights, radio, and other interior components. But when the fuse was in and connected we couldn't see or detect anything that was still on or running when the key wasn't in the ignition. We know the general area of where the drain is coming from but we haven't been able to find a comprehensive list of what that specific fuse powers so we can't narrow it down. Does any one out there have any ideas where to find such a list? Or is there an easier way to find the drain once we know the target area?
