I mean in this new era, internet is everywhere. Urgent business meetings can be held over skype or similar softwares.

Time is money for business people and they need faster air travel to Europe and Asia for their businesses. When the French concordes were taken out of business they lost their ability to get places fast. A normal subsonic service takes around 7-8 hours to fly from London to New York, but Concorde's average flight time was around 3 hours 30 minutes and people were willing to pay the high prices charged by the supersonic Concordes to get to where they needed to be quickly.

NASA is trying to come up with a design that will be even more economical than the Concord was.

Most modern-day fighter aircraft have supersonic abilities in order to carry out their mission and survive.

It is called progress. Get used to it. Look up the word Luddite in Wikipedia. You sound like a Luddite.

So we can evolve and become a further superior species. I mean, what was the point of man discovering fire when they could already exist without it?
