Why won't my 2003 dose neon start?

Common problems for the Neon engine with the symptoms you're describing are the ignition coil, camshaft position sensor, and/or the crankshaft position sensor.

Don't forget to also check the wiring. It can become brittle over time and break quite easily.

Checked the fuse for ignition / spark first? Had a similar problem in the past...

A crank sensor that's faulty will also produce no spark..

When was the last time the timing belt was replaced? (it should be replaced every 105,000 miles)

If it jumped a tooth, you will lose the "Cranking Sync" and the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) will never ground the ASD (Automatic Shut-Down) relay to supply 12v power to the ignition coil and fuel injectors!

Scan test the PCM for any stored codes first.

You need to bring it to a place that has the tools to diagnose the problem. From here, it's only guesswork...

Does it have oil? Worst case scenario, you seized the engine.

My best guess would be your timing belt broke or stretched to far!

I have a 2003 neon 2.0 and it stop on me while driving. It has gas and it's not the battery cause I tried to jump it with another car. It seems like it wants to start as if it needed gas but I just filled the tank. A friend said it might be the ignition coil but I bought it and nothing. They put a screw driver in one of the wires from the spark plug and they said there was no spark/ shock. I really don't want to spend anymore money on things that I don't need. Please comment and I hope you got a good understanding of what's going on. Thanks.
