Dust control as others describe is important. It also helps to verify the fans are running smoothly (if you hear growling, find he cause fast). Finally, for Windows installations, run chkdsk /r every year or so or after any forced power down without being able to get Windows to close. For current Windows versions (7 and 8) it has to be done from elevated mode. Uncoordinated shutdowns damage the file system and hat can show up only after new programs or data files use he damaged part of the memory. Fully half of the weird Windows problems I see, including failure to boot, are the result of damaged file systems and fixed by chkdsk /r.

About the only useful hardware thing you can do is clean the dust out of the air vents and heat sinks occasionally, and check all the fans are working.

From the software side, updates to the operating system, up to date anti virus, clean out the temp files etc. Modern versions of Windows automatically defrag the hard disks for you . Make sure you have backups etc.

I would say if your a casual person clean your once every three months if your a gamer or professional and want your pc to be "fresh" clean it once a month this involves taking the side panel off and cleaning the dust out. Thats about it other than you may need to clean greasy or oily things off use rubbing alcohol.

Hi it should not need any maintenance that is a myth.it will last till the solder dies out and then will cease to function.

? ???? Hi from France ???? ? ?

Defragments it now and then . Personally I do it each two months ( I don't move many files / folders).

Run the anti-virus now and then too (once a month personally), with Malwarebytes anti-malwares and adwcleaner as well.

Best

Cat.

Prevent the dust and update antivirus time to time.

None normally - but you might want to keep it cool, dry and dust free.
