What is the slope of a roof that has a width of 72 and a height of 12?

please help. it is pre-calc.

Is there a slope or is it undefined?

12/72 = 1/6

the slope can be found by using the equation

tangent A = length of opposite side / length of adjacent side

where A is the angle that tells you the slope

opposite side is the height 12

adjacent side is the width 72

so

tangent A = 12/72

that is assuming that the roof is high on one end and not peaking in the middle, in which case, you would use 36 as the opposite side

rise over run isn't pre-calc, it's pre-algebra.

12/72 = 1/6

sqrt(72^2-12^2)= 70.99 ft

s=12/71 = .169

please help. it is pre-calc.
