What does a battery clip do in a circuit?

I know it looks like a clip but what is it used for in a circuit? Why is important (if it is) to a circuit?

There are two types . Small batteries are connected and held in place typicaly in a small portable appliance e.g. a torch. These allow for ease of change of battery but can be a cause of trouble i.e.check that the connection is good ! The other type are somtimes called "crocodile" clips and are used to make a temporary connection , usually test equipment or a charger . IT IS IMPORTANT TO TAKE GREAT CARE WITH THESE particularly if the battery has a high capacity as in a car ! There can be DANGER from sparks or short circuit.

Battery clips are just that, they connect the circuit to the battery.

If you mean the thing with two studs on it, it provides an electrical connection to the battery.

If you mean the plastic strap, it stops the battery moving about and causing damage when the equipment is moved.

A TEMPORARY JOINT.
