Saying compression problem for this old bird is like saying "little limp" for a broken leg. The engine is shot as in dead as in bad dream as in run away run away fast. Besides a new engine you need all new seals, gaskets, and hoses. And that;s just for starters. Tires? Gas tank? Transmission? If you buy it, you better have an absolute minimum of $7,500 laying around and nothing better to spend it on. And when the day comes you just want to get rid of it, you will be lucky if anyone offers you one-third of what you put into it. The buyer will need 100% cash because no lender will accept this thing on lien.

Could also be headgasket or timing, which are not cheap either. Your pretty much looking at replacing the engine.

"Compression problems"??? That's code for "Needs a new engine". Figure $3,000 for a crappy amateur "rebuild" or crate short block, or $6,000 on up for a pro or high performance remanufacture.

that means it needs and engine rebuild. and it will not be cheap.
