Should I replace my CV joints just because I can?

If they are leaking and you are taking them off anyway to replace hub, then yes replace the CV-joints. I wouldn't put this on my resume but on my very first interview to get a "real" job as a Mechanical Engineer, I was asked if I had any hobbies or did other stuff. I told him I work on cars on the side. The interviewer looked like a little puppy dog about to get a treat. I was the 3rd person in a line of around 8 people to interview. He cancelled the rest of the interviews and extended an offer within a week. They were looking for a field supervisor that had at least a comprehension of mechanical operations. In your field, it would do you some good to have a part time job with a General Contractor working with buildings.

What do you mean my resume? That would look good once I finish uni, beside my degree in civil engineering I can put " can replace CV joints in an old Landcruiser". A highly sort after skill to be sure.

Look guy If you sure that you can replace then you can do it ,but you should confirmed that after replace that CV joint you can do other maintenance work which are should be checked after use a new CV joint. If you know then you can do but if you don't know then do by a experts instruction because your silly mistake can be create problem. When I repair my car myself I asked to Tiremania Autot Repair through their site Tiremania.net which is our local Tampa area's auto repair shop . So get you should have advice's from experts.

Why not?

Your resume?

1981 FJ45 Toyota Landcruiser

I am rebuilding my hubs and driveshafts because they all leak.

The CV joints don't make any noise, I just figure that they are probably very old and I'd rather not be fixing my hubs all of the time. So should I replace them anyway while I have it all apart?

I work at an auto parts shop so I can get a pair for about $100.
